The surging Cleveland Cavaliers shoot for their 11th
straight win Saturday when they welcome the New York Knicks to Quicken Loans
Arena.
The red-hot Cavs improved to 3-0 on a seven-game homestand Thursday when
LeBron James scored a game-best 36 points with eight assists and seven
rebounds, as Cleveland used a second-half surge to bury Miami, 102-86.
Shaquille O'Neal added 13 points and eight rebounds, while J.J. Hickson and
Daniel Gibson donated 12 points apiece for the Cavaliers, who have won 10
straight, their longest run since a 13-game sprint from March 7-31 of last
season. Cleveland made 15 more free throws (29) than Miami attempted (14) in
the victory.
"It is always a good victory to continue the momentum we have," said James.
The Knicks, meanwhile, are coming off a loss on their home floor to Milwaukee
last night. Ersan Ilyasova scored a career-high 25 points while pulling down
nine rebounds off the bench in that one, as the Bucks held off New York,
114-107, at Madison Square Garden.
David Lee poured in a season-best 32 points to go with 15 rebounds for the
Knicks, who have dropped four of five and were looking for their first win
streak since a three-game run from January 1-7. Al Harrington made four three-
pointers on his way to 22 points while grabbing eight boards off the bench.
Wilson Chandler donated 19 points in defeat.
"We're searching for a win," Lee said. "We're not a great team by any means
and every game is going to be a struggle to get a victory and we lost that
struggle tonight. We'll take the struggle to Cleveland tomorrow and back for
Sacramento then take a couple days break."
The Cavs have won six straight over New York and James has averaged 33.5
points and 7.8 assists in those contests. Many believe the superstar ups his
play vs. the Knicks, a possible landing spot for James is he decides to move
on in free agency after this season.
