Scrappers Can't Hold Lead, Fall to Lake Monsters

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers fell to the Vermont Lake Monsters 10-4 at Eastwood Field Saturday night.  Mahoning Valley drops to 10-12 on the season, while the Lake Monsters improve to 17-5 on the season.

The Scrappers opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth, putting three runs on the board.  Giovanny Urshela drove in a pair with a double to left field, with Carlos Moncrief driving in the third run on an RBI single. 

The Lake Monsters would go on to score 10 unanswered runs to seal the victory.  Clayton Elhert came in from the bullpen and suffered the loss pitching 1.2 innings, allowing six runs on six hits with two strikeouts.  The Scrappers also committed four errors on the night. 

Mark Herrera got the win for the Lake Monsters pitching three scoreless innings of relief, striking out five.

Despite getting a no decision, Alex Kaminsky had another good start lasting 4.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three with four walks.

The Scrappers will begin a series with the Hudson Renegades at Eastwood Field Sunday. First pitch is at 5:05 p.m.
