The Mahoning Valley Scrappers was shutout 3-0 by Williamsport in the homestand finale at Eastwood Field Monday night. The Scrappers were held hitless until the seventh inning when Chase Burnette singled to centerfield. Mahoning Valley finished with just four hits on the night.
Williamsport Starting Pitcher Craig Fritsch tossed five scoreless, hitless innings to earn his first victory of the season. Eric Pettis struck out a pair in a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save of the campaign.
Scrappers' Starting Pitcher Kirk Wetmore suffered the loss dropping him to to 0-4 on the season. He worked 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits with three walks.
Mahoning Valley has now dropped two straight games, and falls to 12-19 on the season. The Scrappers now hit the road for a five-game road trip beginning Tuesday night at State College. First pitch is slated for 7pm.
