The Mahoning Valley Phantoms nipped Traverse City 5-4 in game one of the North Division Semifinals of the 2009 NAHL Playoffs. Trailing 1-0 in the first period, Mahoning Valley's David Chaney lit the lamp to get the Phantoms on the board with just two seconds on the game clock.   Tied at one in the second, Mahoning Valley scored the first two goals of the period, with Nick Kenney and Jordie Trottier finding the net.  Erik Higby and Cullen Lundholm added tallies in the third to seal the win for the Phantoms.  On the night, Bob Mainhardt's team was 4 for 11 on the Power Play.  Game two of the series takes place Sunday afternoon.  The puck drops at 3pm at the Chevrolet Centre.
