There will be a Phantoms hockey this fall, but it's not the same team we have been watching.
The franchise will begin play in the United States Hockey League this year. The USHL has already sent 106 players to the NHL so far, eight of whom played for the Stanley Cup last season, including Penguins defenseman Ruslan Fedetenko.
The Phantoms unveiled their new uniforms on Thursday, and their new dragon mascot. The team is holding a contest to name him at their website, www.youngstownphantoms.com.
The season will begin at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown on Saturday, October 3rd. The Phantoms will play 30 home games, and 30 on the road, stretching into early April.
