The Lady Greyhounds are just two wins away from winning their first PIAA softball championship in school history. This afternoon, Wilmington (23-1) gave Valley their first loss of the season, 5-4, at North Allegheny High School.
The Hounds advance to the Class AA Semifinals to take on Philipsburg Osceola on Monday. The Mounties defeated Burrell, today, 5-1. POHS has outscored the opposition this season by a count of 181-28. Philipsburg Osceola sports the same record that Wilmington has this season, 23-1. The Mounties won the 2007 PIAA Class AA Championship by getting the best of Brandywine Heights, 11-6, at Shippensburg University.
The winner of Wilmington and Philipsburg Osceola will take on either Nanticoke or Central Columbia on Friday, June 18 for the PIAA Class AA title from Robb Field on the campus of Shippensburg.
