The Ursuline Softball team advanced to the Division III State Semifinals with a 3-2 nine-inning win over Northwestern in the Regional Finals Saturday afternoon at Massillon.
Tied at 2 in the ninth, Krista Byers singled, and moved to second on a sacrifice by Casey Lower. Byers came home to score the eventual game-winner on a Kelly Kolenich infield single. Anna Donko finished the day with a triple and a run scored, while Miranda Carkido drove in oneWitgh run in the victory.
Casey Lower was brilliant on the mound allowing just four hits with fifteen strikeouts on the day.
With the win, Ursuline improves to 26-6 overall. The Irish return to action Friday at 12:30 pm in the state semifinals at Akron's Firestone Stadium.
