Since Maura Bobby's sophomore year, Poland's basketball team has improved its win total each season.
"We've all gotten a lot better, skill wise. We have to keep going. We can't stop now," said Bobby.
Part of the credit for the improvement comes from her time playing softball. Last spring, she helped the Lady Bulldogs to the first state title in school history. She says winning that trophy is the highlight of her high school career thus far.
"You see how fun it is to be that successful," continued Bobby. "You want to make it happen in everything else that you do, not just sports but school, too."
Bobby is a four-sport standout. She has earned three letters each in soccer, basketball, and cross country, and four letters in softball. Bobby's success in athletics is translating to the classroom. She has a 3.4 grade point average.
"It helps you manage your time a lot better. You come home from practice and then you have to do homework or study for a test. That helps you in school to become a better person."
Not only is Bobby an athlete, she is also a member of Student Council, Latin Club, and Science Club. Her well-rounded approach should serve her well in college and beyond, as she pursues a degree in special education.
"We have a lot of special education kids at our school that I associate with. I just really enjoy talking to them and helping them. It's something I would love to do as a career."
