Competition drives Kayla Hiscox.
"When they're hitting and they're up there, that moment in time when you're up there trying to make them make the mistake and not let you make the mistake, it's an intense moment," says Hiscox.
A four-year letter winner for Lisbon's volleyball team, Hiscox is one of the top middle blockers in the Inter Tri-County League, but she's also one of the top students. With a 4.05 grade point average, Hiscox is in line to be class valedictorian.
"I just love school in general. I love going to class. I love learning new things. Math and Physics, Calc and Physics are my favorite."
She's also a four-year letter winner in softball, too. Hiscox credits her athletic endeavors as a big reason for her overall success in the classroom.
"Sports make me work harder in school. I know if I have practice or a game, I have to judge my time," adds Hiscox. "Working with others during practice helps you work with others during group projects and stuff like that, so they kind of go hand in hand."
For her handy work on the court and in the classroom, Lisbon's Kayla Hiscox is our Student Athlete of the Week.
