Poland Softball Advances, 4-0

The Poland Softball team advanced to the Division II Regional Finals with a 4-0 win over Field Friday afternoon. 

Starting pitcher Erin Gabriel allowed just one hit with seventeen strikeouts in the victory.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the top of the second inning when Megan Hirschbeck brought Jordan Palumbo home to score on a sacrifice fly to put Poland ahead 1-0.  It stayed that way until the third when Palumbo notched an RBI single to score Maura Bobby make it 2-0 Poland.  Following a bases loaded walk, Poland capped off the scoring with a Jenna Modic RBI single which scored Karah Pierce.

Modic, Gabriel and Palumbo each tallied two hits for Poland.

The Bulldogs improve to 27-3 on the season overall.  They return to tournament action Saturday when they'll meet Tallmadge in the Division II Regional Championship.  First pitch is slated for 12pm from Akron's Firestone Stadium.
