Poland Pummels Tipp City in Semis

The Poland softball team returns to the Division II State Finals for the second straight year with a 14-2 blowout win over Tipp City Tippecanoe Thursday evening at Akron's Firestone Stadium. The game ended after the top of the fifth inning on the mercy rule.

Bulldogs' pitcher Erin Gabriel improved to 15-1 on the season, allowing two unearned runs on just two hits with nine strikeouts. At the plate, Gabriel went 3-4 with five RBI, scoring three times.

Third-baseman Jenna Modic went 3-3 with 3 RBI, while Marisa Trevis drove in two runs for the Bulldogs.

Kaylee Benson went 3-3 for the Bulldogs, driving in three runs, while also scoring three runs in the win. The Bulldogs pounded out 18 hits on the day.

The Bulldogs advance to face top-ranked LaGrange Keystone (32-1) in the Division II State Finals on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. at Akron's Firestone Stadium.
