With a lineup loaded with underclassmen, Boardman was not expected to make a run at the State Tournament. But the Spartans run ended just a game short of reaching the final four.
Hudson plated the only run of the game in the 6th inning and held off Boardman 1-0 in Saturday's Regional Final at the University of Akron.
Alex DiDomenico allowed only three hits while racking up 12 strike outs. However, the Spartans offense could only collect four hits of their own. DiDomenico led off the second inning with a triple, but was stranded. Lizzie Padgitt reached base three times.
Boardman finishes with a 23-8 record.
