The Lancers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Lakewood left fielder, Chelsea Brewer, tripled in the tying run in the sixth inning. Brewer, then, scored on a wild pitch for what would be the game winning run. The top four hitters in Lakewood’s lineup went 6-12 in the semifinal game. In the 2001 Division II State Semifinal game against Edison at Ashland’s Brookside Park, the Bulldogs advanced to the state title game by ironically winning by one run (6-5) just like in the contest against John Glenn. The same amount of wins that Erin Gabriel has this year.
