Tuesday Hoops Preview, 1/10
Fitch (3-5) at Cardinal Mooney (2-6)
-Fitch has lost their five games this year by an average of 4 points. Will Mahone leads the Falcons in scoring with a 21.6 points per game average. The Falcons have dropped their last two. Mooney began the season with four consecutive losses. In their last outing, the Cardinals fell to unbeaten East Liverpool, 69-58. Doug Caputo led all scorers with 28. George Brandenstein added 11 for the Cardinals.
Shenango (2-2, 7-4) at Neshannock (1-2, 4-5)
-A WPIAL Class AA Section 2 battle pits the Wildcats and the Lancers against one another on Tuesday. Shenango got out the gate with a 6-1 start; however, the 'Cats have dropped three of their last four. Neshannock has also had issues, as of late, losing three of their last five. The Lancers have held each of their last three opponents to 64-points or less. Still, Neshannock was only able to come away with a win once in the aforementioned contests.
Hopewell (1-2, 3-7) at New Castle (3-0, 10-0)
-The Hurricanes are averaging 78.4 points per game this season. Hopewell is allowing just 57 points in their ten contests this year. However, the Viking offense has been stagnant as they have only topped 60-points twice (both losses).
Reynolds (6-3) at West Middlesex (6-4)
-The Big Red have lost contests to New Castle (by 15), Mercyhurst Prep (by 3), Farrell (by 7), and a last second shot to East (by 2). West Middlesex has won their last two by an average margin of 31.5. Reynolds lost their first game in seven tries on Friday to Kennedy Catholic, 56-35.
Lowellville (3-2, 5-4) at Western Reserve (3-1, 6-2)
-A huge match up in the Lower Tier between Lowellville and Western Reserve to try and keep pace with Jackson-Milton (4-1). It's been a real log jam near the top with six teams within two games of one another.
East Palestine (4-1, 4-3) at South Range (4-1, 7-2)
-A crucial game which could see the losing team drop two games behind Springfield (5-0) in the Upper Tier. East Palestine's Jake Dicello has averaged 24.5 points over his last two outings.
