It's been 30 years since a golfer has represented the Mahoning Valley on the PGA tour. But come January a favorite son will be teeing it up.

Wednesday night, golfer Jason Kokrak was honored at Trumbull Country Club for getting his PGA tour card.

Kokrak is a 2003 graduate of Warren JFK High School where he won two state championships.  This past season he finished fourth on the money list of the Nationwide Tour to qualify for the PGA.

"You know, I think it's going to really weigh on my shoulders once I tee up in Hawaii for my first event at the Sony Open.  But right now, I'm just trying to enjoy the moment.  I'm going to play with the biggest and the best players on the planet right now and I think my game is ready and I hope I have a lot of years out there," said Kokrak

The last local guy to play on the PGA tour was East Palestine's Jerry McGee who retired from the tour in 1981.
