After struggling to put South Range away the first time around on December 9, Springfield had their hands full once again with the Raiders.
Dan Good's free-throw with 5.4 seconds left proved to be the game winner. Springfield's Ron Rogers missed a potential game-winning three pointer at the buzzer to seal the Raider victory.
Good led South Range with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Andy Lacefield finished with 14 points, while Brandon Pluchinsky added 12.
Rogers led Springfield with a game-high 22 points, while Nick Russell tallied 17.
South Range led at the intermission by one point, 24-23. After dropping their first three contests this year which were decided by eight points or less, the Raiders got over the hurdle and defeated the Tigers 55-54 in New Middletown. South Range improves their overall season mark to 9-3 and their league record to 6-2.
In their first meeting, Springfield led after the third quarter 52-38; however, South Range outscored the Tigers 22-8 to force overtime. In the extra session, Ron Rogers sunk the game-winning layup with 15.8 seconds left to give his Tigers a 68-66 victory.
Springfield had won their last ten games in a row and had defeated South Range 17 of their last 20 meetings prior to tonight. The loss drops the Tigers to 10-2 overall and 7-1 in the league.
South Range will play at Mineral Ridge on Tuesday as Springfield will travel to Hanoverton to take on the Golden Eagles of United.
