The Sharpsville baseball team will make their first appearance to the state tournament since 2006. That year, ironically, the Blue Devils entered the playoffs with the same exact record, 15-5, as Sharpsville has this year.

The Devils will tangle with a Burrell team which is reeling from a 7-0 setback in the WPIAL Class AA championship game on Wednesday. The Bucs (13-5) had won eight straight contests until the shutout loss to the Tigers. In 2008, Burrell advanced all the way to the PIAA Class AA Championship. The Bucs lost to Loyalsock, 8-3. Burrell will play Sharpsville on Monday at 1 o'clock at Slippery Rock University.

The winner of this contest with move on to play either Mount Union or Bishop Canevin in the quarterfinals of the 2010 PIAA Class AA tournament.
