Kennedy Catholic scored 9 of the first 11 points in their contest Friday night at Sharpsville en route to a 61-47 victory. Kennedy never trailed as the Eagles' lone senior Ken Fill had a game-high 17 points including 3 three-point baskets. Jeff Thompkins also added 13 for the victorious birds.
The Golden Eagles (3-1) outscored Sharpsville 21-9 in the first quarter. In the second frame, however, the momentum shifted to the Devils as the blue and white were able to keep the score even during the next eight minutes. Kennedy's 5'9 sophomore point guard Jake McPhatter picked up his fourth foul with 5:31 to play in the opening half.
The Blue Devils were able to close the gap to four points in the third period (36-32) but Kennedy proved to be too much as they would pull away from the home-standing Devils. The Eagles will play at Warren JFK on Wednesday.
Sharpsville (2-2) was led by Paul Klenke, who made 4 three-point shots to finish with 15. The Blue Devils are without 6'1 senior Dersean Alberty-Brown who had surgery today. Sharpsville will travel to West Middlesex for their next encounter on Tuesday.
