Salem graduated Jake Madison (16.0 ppg), Ryan Wolfgang (14.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg) and Taylor Frederickson (10.9 rpg) from last year’s 10-12 team. However, the Quakers will have two of their better passers back for this winter’s group in Ryan Bush and Trent Kenreigh. As a sophomore, Bush finished fifth in assists (2.9) in the All-American White Division as he also displayed his three-point shooting by averaging 31.1% from distance (32-103). The 5’9 Kenreigh enters his senior campaign as the team’s leader. Number 2 led the team in assists with 71 (4.2 apg) and also was within the discussion of the league’s best theft artists as he finished with 30 steals (1.6 spg).
Last year, Salem shot an impressive 64.4% (242-376) from the free-throw line as a team. Although the Quakers finished last in the league in team rebounding (28.1 rpg) with the division’s top rebounder, Taylor Frederickson (10.9).
Salem replaces Northwest in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference this winter. Carrollton rolled through the competition by posting a perfect league mark (14-0) during the 2010-11 campaign. The Quakers hope to make a splash this season.
Salem hosts United on Tuesday, December 6.
