The coaching search at Niles McKinley High School has come to an end, nearly two months after the resignation of Brad Yeager.

The selection committee will recommend to the school board that Brian Shaner become the next head football coach at special meeting expected to take place later this week.

Shaner has spent the past 9 years coaching in Youngstown at both East and Rayen high schools with a career record of 44-46. During that span, he's seen his team merge twice with another city school, Woodrow Wilson and Chaney.

Shaner will take over a Niles program that hasn't posted a winning record in 4 years or qualified for the playoffs in 5 seasons.
