A Ravenna man accused of leading several Trumbull County police agencies on a chase Wednesday night was arraigned on several charges Thursday afternoon.
Angelo T. Vecchio II, 32, is facing charges of driving under suspension, fictitious registration, receiving stolen property and obstructing official business. Police said Vecchio was driving a vehicle with stolen plates near River Street in Newton Falls when he fled the scene on foot along the bank of the Mahoning River.
Newton Falls and Braceville police searched the area, but they could not find him. A short time later, Braceville police stopped a vehicle on State Route 5 for a traffic violation and Vecchio was a passenger. He again fled on foot and later was arrested behind a building on Route 5 by Braceville police with assistance from Champion, Warren Township, Newton Falls and the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office.
Court records show Vecchio already was being sought on a warrant after he failed to appear in court on charges of failure to reinstate, speed and fictitious registration. Those charges were filed in December.
His bond was set at $9,000 and he is due back in Newton Falls Municipal Court Feb. 2.
