In his second year at the helm, New Castle’s head coach Ralph Blundo has seen his undefeated bunch win two in-season tournaments within a three-week period including last night’s victory over Moon, 88-44, in the Tigers’ annual holiday classic. The Hurricanes outscored their two opponents (Perry Traditional Academy and Moon) over the past two days by an average of 79-38.

Coach Blundo’s team has won 16 of their last 17 regular season games including all nine of this year’s contests. New Castle (8-0) is one of ten undefeated squads in the 134-team WPIAL (PIAA’s District 7). The ‘Canes have posted an average of 77.5 points over their first eight games of the new campaign while allowing just 52.3.

The 5’11 senior Corey Eggleston has led New Castle in scoring by averaging 20.1 points per game. Junior Shawn Anderson (6’3) comes in right behind Eggleston with his 20.0 scoring average from his post position. Anthony Richards (5’9) has also got into the scoring column for a 9.3 clip so far this season. Over the past week (3 games), junior guard Antonio Rudolph (5’11), has scored 11.7 points per contest.
