Stingy Mathews Defeats Lowellville

LOWELLVILLE - A stingy Mathews defense kept Lowellville in check and won 70-58 Tuesday.

Lowellville (1-1) led 12-11 after the first quarter until the Mustangs' zone-pressure defense took control. The Mustangs outscored the Rockets 38-23 over the next two quarters and took a 49-35 lead into the fourth.

Zach Younge led Mathews with 25 points, all coming in the final three quarters. Suchanek added 18 and O'Dell scored 14.

Dean Donatelli had a game-high 27 points for the Rockets, including 11 in the fourth. Drew McLaughlin added 11 and Carmen Donofrio scored nine.
