The winner takes sole possession of first place in Region 1.
West Middlesex has had the Golden Eagles' number as of late, winning three of the past four meetings. This match up has been decided by ten points or less in six of the last nine showdowns.
Since their heart breaking 68-66 loss at the hands of Youngstown East in the Dresch-McCluskey Holiday Tournament on December 30, the Big Red has won seven straight. In their last outing against Rocky Grove on Tuesday, Middlesex received a huge contribution from Matt Dogan who scored a game-high 27 points to put the Orioles away, 56-43. Over the course of Dogan's last four games, #31 has averaged 22.3 points.
In each of Chad Mild's thirteen seasons at the helm of West Middlesex basketball, the Big Red has won double digit games. One would have to go back to the 1993-94 season to find the last time that West Middlesex did not have at least 10-wins (5-18).
Following a 3-3 start to the season, Kennedy Catholic has also won seven consecutive games. Most recently, the Golden Eagles posted a 77-24 victory over Commodore Perry on Tuesday. In the second half, Kennedy outscored the Panthers, 45-10. Ken Fill led the Eagle attack with 14 points.
