Seven Area Athletes MAC-Bound

Seven area athletes are headed to play in the Mid-American Conference in either football, soccer, or track and field.

Jordan Italiano (Canfield) - Kent State University
The Cardinals senior finished with 1,038 yards rushing, 664 yards passing, and 20 total touchdowns. Italiano also led the team in tackles with 69 and 3 INT's. He was named to the MyValleySports.com Big 22. Italiano also played varsity basketball. He was all-conference and all-district in football (2 x All-American Conference).

Jimmy Rousher (Canfield) - Miami University (of Ohio)
Cardinals senior lineman finished with 35 tackles, 3 for loss, 1 pass breakup, and led the team in sacks with 4 for -35 yards. Rousher is also a varsity basketball player. He was all-conference and all-district in football (2 x All-American Conference).

Colin Reardon (Poland) - Kent State University
The Bulldogs senior will join former teammate Luke Wollet on the Golden Flashes roster. The quarterback finished with 1,154 yards passing, 278 yards rushing, and 6 total touchdowns. Reardon was also 1st team all-state as a punter. He was also named to the MyValleySports.com

Devin Campbell (Boardman) - Buffalo
Spartans senior tailback finished with 1,179 yards rushing, 431 yards receiving, and 22 total touchdowns. Campbell averaged 8.9 yards per carry this season.

Sydney Perez (Howland) - University of Akron
A four year varsity letter winner, Perez scored 6 goals and added 3 assists, despite missing half of her junior year and all of her senior year with an injury. She helped lead her school to two district championships and two top 10 rankings in the state of Ohio (2008, 2010). Perez was part of the 2011 team that had the best overall record in school history (16-1-1), and named to the all-county team and earned the most improved player award as a sophomore. She was also named to the all-conference team as a junior, and captained her side as a senior.

Lauren Schattinger (Lakeview) - Miami University (of Ohio)
The track and field star also considered Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Cornell, and Kentucky among others. Schattinger holds schools records in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and in the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays. Her senior season, she was Regional champion in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, helping her to a 2nd place finish in the State meet in the 100 meter dash, and 4th in the 200 meter dash. Schattinger holds a 3.7 grade point average and is ranked in the top 25% of her graduating class.

Stephon Lyons (Springfield) - Eastern Michigan
The senior will throw the shot put for the Eagles track and field program.
