Grove City's Run Game Should Once Again Feast on the Opposition
Tyler Dagres
, junior quarterback, is in his third-year as the starting signal caller for Grove City. Coach Jeff Bell says, “Anytime you have that experience at quarterback, you’ve got to feel good because that’s the position that makes everything go”. Coach Bell is very pleased with what his backfield has to offer, “I think our starting backfield is as good as anyone who we’ll play this year”. Lining up behind Dagres will be senior tailback Jamarr Patterson, junior Wes Phipps, and sophomore Harold Price. “We have three solid running backs who’ve all had experience coming back,” adds Bell. The Eagles will once again be an offense that pounds the football down their opponents’ throat. The offensive line has had to make some changes due to graduation, however, that won’t hurt the Eagles’ game plan.

The defense will rely on its’ speed as the linebackers are the unit’s strong suit while the secondary lost two starters from a year ago. “We do a lot of blitzing out of the 3-5 (formation),” says Bell. “Kids have to be able to run. It comes down to tackling and getting to the football”.

Grove City has won the past two Region 5 titles the past two seasons. The Eagles have been consistent winners since Bell took over the team fourteen years ago. The gold and white have not suffered through a losing season since 2001.

The Eagles open the season with three of their first four on the road. Grove City also finishes their 2010 campaign with two of three away from Forker Field in late October.
