Experience and improvement is what head coach Mark Batt is counting on to make the 2011-12 season one to remember in Trojan town. Greenville lost their top two scorers from a year ago, Garrett Blaschak (13.3 ppg) and Kenny Surano (8.6 ppg), to graduation. However, Sean McErlane returns for his senior year to lead the Trojans as their floor general. Last year, Nico Zahniser did not play after lettering as both a freshman and a sophomore. Matt Jones and Lucas Houpt both played significant minutes as freshmen last winter. Jones (6’4/Soph.) averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds a game while Houpt (6’0/Soph.) started last season.

Greenville has struggled to get out the gates fast. The Trojans have fallen in three of their first four contests in each of the past two years. Though, in 2009-10, Greenville battled back to finish the year with a District 10 playoff appearance and a 14-9 record.

Coach Batt is anticipating his group to take the right steps towards a successful season. “We expect to challenge for a playoff berth.” That march will begin in the Cambridge Springs Tip-Off Tournament.
