East Sweeps Mooney in Double OT

East completes the season sweep over Mooney as the Panthers prevail on Bennington Avenue, 64-61, in double overtime in the MyValleySports.com Game of the Week. East trailed at intermission by a score of 29-25.

East (6-4) has won three of their last four to match their win total from last season of six. Friday night’s match up with Mooney was only the Panthers’ third home game of the season. East will welcome Liberty on Tuesday.

Mike Hornbuckle led the way for the Panthers with 19 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. Taylor Johnson also reached double figures with 14, while Deontay Scott tallied 11.

Ryan Farragher and Doug Caputo led Mooney with each scoring 19 points. George Brandenstein added 10 in the Cardinals' setback.

Mooney (2-8) has now dropped their last three contests after posting victories in two of their previous three games. The Cardinals will play host to Hoban on Tuesday.
