The Bristol boys' basketball program has fallen on hard times winning just 20 of their last 89 contests. This is the same Panther team which made two trips to the state tournament (2002, 1994) over the last 17 years. Bristol will now look to one of their standout players from their last trip to Columbus in Craig Giesy.
The 2003 Trumbull County Player of the Year was named the boys' varsity basketball coach. Giesy replaces Mark Mollohan, who led the Panthers during the past three seasons. Craig gained experience working under Nathan Kish at Lordstown over the course of the last two years.
Bristol lost their top three scorers (Andy Holko, Aaron Hopson, Josh Double) from a year ago to graduation. The Panthers are expecting to have senior Austin Rimer and junior Chad Oliver return in the winter. Rimer, a 5'8 guard, averaged 5.5 points and shot 70.5% from the charity stripe (43-61) in 2010-11. Oliver was deadly beyond the three-point arc, making 13 of 38 (34.2%). Oliver scored 5.1 points and grabbed 1.9 caroms standing just 5'9.
Bristol completed the 2010-11 season with a 3-18 record.
