Jenne Battaglia's goal with 14:09 remaining in the second half lifted Canfield to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Fitch in the Division I District Semifinals.
Just seconds prior to the goal Canfield's Audrey Smith took a shot from about 18 yards out. Fitch goalie Ali Tolich knocked it over the goal and out of bounds for the save. It set up a corner kick for Canfield.
Smith sent the ball toward the box and Battaglia finished amidst a large group of players scrambling for the ball. Canfield advances to the District Championship game to be played Thursday night against the winner of Poland and GlenOak.
