Mooney Names Ritter Girls Basketball Coach

Sr. Jane Marie Kudlacz, HM, principal of Cardinal Mooney, has announced the appointment of Bill ritter as Head Girls Basketball Coach.  Ritter has coached the Mooney Girls Freshmen team for the past four years.  In addition, he served as head eighth grade basketball coach at Boardman Center Middle School  for ten years preceded by a four year stint as boys freshmen coach at Mooney under head coach Bob Santor.  Sr. Jane Marie noted that “we are fortunate to have a coach with Bill’s experience and familiarity with our school and its’ tradition. He represented us well as a player in the past and we look forward to his tenure as our girls basketball coach.”   He was an All-SVC selection as a forward at Mooney in 1976 and was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. Ritter has also coached on the AAU level, served as a basketball official  for twelve years and vounteered as a coach at St. Charles.  In commenting on his selction Ritter noted  that he is “humble, proud and honored” to have  an opportunity to return to his alma mater as a head coach. Bill earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and holds a master’s from  St. John’s University. He is currently the Business Development Manager for Dominion. He and his  wife, alumnae Chrys Deluco ’78, and their family live in Boardman.
