2009 Record: 11-2
Notes: The Quips have had a winning record eight of the last eleven years. Aliquippa lost to Greensburg Central Catholic last November in the WPIAL Class AA championship, 33-7. Charleroi High School transfer offensive tackle, Zach Hooks, is receiving interest from Division I powerhouses such as Penn State, Notre Dame, Purdue and Pittsburgh. The Quips return fourteen starters from last year's team.
Laurel Spartans
2009 Record: 10-2
Notes: The Spartans improved their record by seven wins within a years' time (2008: 3, 2009: 10). Last September, Laurel defeated eventual state champion Clairton, 15-8, in the lidlifter. That upset win marked the first season opening win for Laurel since 2005 and just their second within the last ten years.
