Former Chaney head football coach Jim Vivo has been approved to take over the head coaching duties at Youngstown East.
The Youngstown School Board voted unanimously (7-0) in appointing the veteran coach.
Vivo was last a head coach with Chaney in the school's final season of fielding varsity teams. The Cowboys went 1-9 in 2010 before merging with the Panthers to begin the 2011 season.
Vivo had previously coached with Ursuline, Westerville North, Hubbard, and Green before returning to his alma mater.
Youngstown East finished 3-7 in 2011. Vivo has a career coaching mark of 42-32 overall.
