Jim Vivo is back on the sidelines in the Mahoning Valley.
The former Ursuline head football coach was approved for the same position at Chaney High School at Tuesday's school board meeting. Vivo has spent the 2009 season as an assistant coach and athletic director at Coventry High School, serving on the staff of former Fitch coach Neal Kopp.
Vivo went 22-13 in three seasons with the Irish, highlighted by a 14-1 record in 2000 which ended with a state championship - the first in Ursuline history. After the 2001 season, he left to take over a Westerville North High School before serving as AD at Hubbard and Green.
Chaney has not had a winning season since a 5-4 campaign in 2005. Since then the Cowboys have won only five games, and held a 1-9 record in 2009.
Vivo takes over for John Protopapa, who stepped down after three seasons.
