Ryan Farragher is rather soft spoken

"I'm pretty laid back," said the Mooney senior. "I don't really talk too much."

He does his talking on the football field and the basketball court. Currently, he is a standout wide receiver at Cardinal Mooney, earning first team All-Northeast Ohio, and third team All-State, helping lead the Cardinals to the Division III state finals. He still is managing to post a 3.3 grade point average in the process.

"My parents, they push me to do that. There's some self motivation in it, too," said Farragher. "Just to get good grades and try to do the best I can be and try to get into a good college, too."

Farragher has taken his fair share of bone crunching hits in Mooney's run towards State, but doesn't waver when determining which is worse, bruises or bad grades.

"Probably getting a bad grade on a test," said Farragher. "I can get back up from those hits, but when you get bad grades, you can't really take that back or do much about that."

He would certainly battle through another bruise or two, if it means an eighth state title in Mooney program history.

"It means a lot more because this is the state championship," said Farragher. "This is the last game we're ever going to play at Mooney. Definitely, it would mean a lot more to us if we won this game."

For his guts on the gridiron and in the classroom, we salute Cardinal Mooney's Ryan Farragher as our Student Athlete of the Week.
