Last week, Grove City ended their three-year playoff losing streak to Cathedral Prep by knocking off the Ramblers, 33-0.
This week, the Eagles tangled with WPIAL Champion Montour.
Midway through the first quarter, Foster Reznor finished off Grove City's 12-play, 77-yard drive to give the Birds a 7-0 lead with 4:20 remaining.
After two Phipps' scores, Montour quarterback Dillon Buechel connected with two different receivers to close the gap to 21-13 at halftime.
On the third play of the second half, Grove City fumbled the ball as the Spartans took advantage of the Eagle miscue on Buechel's third touchdown pass to cut the lead even more to 21-19.
Late in the contest, Grove City's quarterback Tyler Dagres fumbled the ball recovered by Spartans' Nick Arnold at the Eagle 43. Later in the drive on a 3rd-and-goal, Dillon Buechel scrambled from 4-yards out to score the go-ahead score, 25-21.
Grove City faced a 4th-and-15 from midfield with a tad over a minute remaining. Mathews Christiansen sacked Dagres to seal the victory for the Spartans.
Grove City's season ends with a 11-1 record. Montour fought back from a 21-0 deficit to score the final 25-points of the contest. The Spartans advance to play the winner of Lampeter-Strasburg and Bishop McDevitt.
