Canfield Rallies to Top Aurora

The Canfield Cardinals rallied from a 14-point deficit to defeat Aurora 31-14 in the Division II Regional Quarterfinals Friday night. 

The Greenmen got on the board in the first quarter when Ty Watson connected with Nick Sivillo on a 32-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-0 Aurora.  Watson completed 12-26 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 51 yards on twelve carries.

Canfield got on the board late in the second quarter when Brett Cooper tossed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Vaclav.  Cooper later threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Ben Angelo in the fourth quarter.  Cooper finished the night completing 7-9 passes for 82 yards and two touchdowns. 

Vaclav capped off the scoring for Canfield with a 31-yard scoring scamper, after plunging in from one yard out in the third.  On the night, Vaclav rushed for 107 yards on 16 attempts with a pair of rushing touchdowns.  He likewise threw for 28 yards, while also catching a pair of passes with a touchdown. 

Canfield improves to 10-1 on the season, and advances to face Mentor Lake Catholic next Friday night at 7:30pm.  Game site is TBA.
