Cardinal Mooney and Poland will once again face off in the postseason - this time on the basketball court.
The Cardinals held off Struthers, 60-51, on Wednesday in the Division II district semifinals at Boardman High School.
Chuck Gruber led the Cardinals with 18 points and Jeff Chahine netted 14. Mooney held a 13 point lead at the half before the Wildcats rallied in the 4th. Nate Jacubec's 3 pointer cut the deficit down to 47-45 before the Cards put the game away. Jacubec led all scorers with 20 points.
The Cards (17-5) advance to Saturday's district title game to face Poland. Mooney eliminated the Bulldogs from the football playoffs this past fall, 24-7. Tip off for the rematch is set for 6:00 pm at Boardman High School.
Struthers ends its season with a 19-3 record.
