This Friday, two titans of Trumbull County basketball will meet on the MyValleySports.com High School Basketball Game of the Week. The #3 ranked LaBrae Vikings will tangle with Newton Falls in a pivotal All-American Conference match up.

From 1001 North Leavitt Road to 907 Milton Boulevard is separated by 9 miles. These two heavyweights have been involved in six contests which have been decided by 7-points or less over the course of their last seven meetings. LaBrae has won the last three.

In their first encounter of the season on December 30, Peyton Aldridge and Carrington Herron scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the Vikings to a 52-40 victory. The Tigers' Cody Dillon poured in a game-high 18.

A win by LaBrae would clinch at least a share of the National Division championship. Senior guard Matt Szorady has scored in double figures in each of his last three games to average 11.3 points during that stretch. The LaBrae defense has been very stingy this year allowing just 38.1 points per game. The last time a team scored over 43-points in a single game was Howland on December 27 (66). That's a nine-game streak.

A win for Newton Falls would put the Tigers in first-place with the visiting Vikings at 7-1. Since their loss to LaBrae on December 30, the Tigers have posted a perfect 7-0 mark as they have held the opposition to just 37-points per game. Senior Cody Dillon was held to a season-low 11 points against Campbell on January 13; however, in that same contest he grabbed 12 caroms. Dillon has scored 20-points or more seven times this season including the 23-point performance against Liberty during his last appearance on the MyValleySports.com Game of the Week (January 6).
