The Minnesota Twins selected former Fitch hurler, Steven Gruver, in the 7th round (#238) of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft.

The southpaw compiled a 15-5 record for Wally Ford at Fitch as he is the all-time strikeout king in school history. Gruver was named to the First-Team All-Federal League as a senior in 2008.

The 6'1 lefty put together a three-year college resume at the University of Tennessee which featured a 9-12 record, striking out 165 in 184.0 innings with a WHIP of 1.46.

Steven becomes the fifth former Fitch Falcon taken in the Major League Baseball Draft since 1980 and just the second pitcher. Don Tinkey was chosen in the 1983 draft by the California Angels.
