The Colorado Rockies took Mooney's Boo Vazquez in the 38th round (pick #1158) of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. Vazquez led the Cardinals in batting with a .533 average (24-45) while scoring 20 runs, swiping 14 bases, and clubbing 7 triples in 2011.
Vazquez was the first Mooney outfielder to be taken in the Major League Draft since 1973 when the Detroit Tigers chose Thomas Walko in the 17th round.
Just yesterday, Boo was honored by MyValleySports.com as being named to the '2011 Diamond Kings' team.
