Johnson City's power hitting first baseman, Matthew Adams, hits another homerun as the Cardinals roll to a 8-1 victory over the Pulaski Mariners. Adams was 4 for 5 this evening with a double and a solo homerun (3). The left handed batter has hit safely in each of his first six professional baseball games.

Adams is 2nd in batting average (.480), tied for 3rd in homers (3), 4th in slugging percentage (.880) and 4th in on-base percentage (.519). Matthew is playing in the Appalachian League (Rookie League). One must think that he will be presented with a promotion to possibly their Class A - short season affiliate - the Batavia Muckdogs in the near future.

Adams played collegiately at Slippery Rock University. He was drafted in the 23rd round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft by St. Louis.
