Poland exacts revenge on rival Canfield with their 63-46 win tonight.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 15-7 lead but Poland scored the next 8 points to tie the game. Canfield's Marco Delorenzo sank a long three-point basket to beat the first quarter buzzer to give the Cards a 18-15 lead entering the second frame.
Coach Ken Grisdale's Bulldogs played a flawless second quarter which saw Poland outscore Canfield, 22-2, to take a 37-20 lead after sixteen minutes. The second half was even as each school scored 26 in the final sixteen minutes en route to a Poland victory.
Colin Reardon led all scorers with 18 as Jacob Wolfe added 16 and Jerry Lawman had 11 for Poland.
The Bulldogs were upset on January 13 by the Cardinals 51-48; however, Poland has beaten their arch rival four of the last five meetings.
Just this past Tuesday, Poland had their five-game win streak snapped at the hands of Streetsboro, 49-45. The Bulldogs improve their record to 11-5 and 7-2 in the league. Poland will travel to Niles to take on the Dragons in four days.
Canfield (3-6, 7-11) has dropped four consecutive games and have compiled a 2-8 mark away from Cardinal Drive.
Kyle Brown led all Cardinals with 14. Matt Yobi and Marco Delorenzo had 11 and 8, respectively.
Canfield will welcome East on Tuesday.
