Mathews' 38 leads Struthers Girls Past Salem

Struthers standout Dana Matthews scored a game-high 38 points to lead Struthers past Salem 59-54 in the Division II District Finals at Austintown Fitch Saturday.

Trailing by five entering the fourth quarter, Struthers outscored Salem 21-9 to clinch the District Title.  Helen-Marie Hird added eight points in the win for the Wildcats.

Amy Scullion led Salem with a team-high 24 points, while Andrea Sequin tallied 13 in the setback.

The Wildcats advance to face Geneva in the the Barberton Regional Semifinals.  Tipoff is slated for 6:15 pm Tuesday night.

Congadulations lady cats Now if only YSU would look at Dana Mathews they might win some games. But there not interested what a shame. 1400 plus points in her high school career. Well done Dana.
