The Falcons' senior Dan Chepke connected on a last second three-point shot to send the game to overtime, 73-73. In the extra session, Arbie Murray and Chris Maze who combined for 40 points proved to be too much for Fitch as Howland escaped with a 86-84 win.
The Falcons collide with Howland on Friday night's MyValleySports.com High School Basketball Game of the Week.
Fitch enters the contest winners of four of their last six and have compiled a 5-3 mark away from Austintown this season. In their first match up with Howland, Fitch's Dan Chepke scored 24 points and snagged 11 boards. Since their overtime loss to the Tigers, Chepke has posted 20-points or more three times and the Falcons have won each of those outings.
Despite Will Mahone's 26-point performance, the Falcons dropped a 55-48 contest to East on Tuesday. Fitch is 6-7 in games decided by 7 points or less. The Falcons have the opportunity to match their win total from the past three years (2008-2011) tonight of 9.
Howland has won three of their last four including a 65-49 victory over Niles on Tuesday. Brendan Cope scored 23 points as he was 11-14 from the charity stripe against the Red Dragons. Cope has averaged 22.7 over the course of the Tigers' last three games. With a win over Fitch, Howland would clinch their fourth winning season during the past five years.
The Tigers have registered a 4-1 record at home this year.
