Following a 58-7 victory over Chaney Friday night, Austintown Fitch now turns its attention to the Poland Bulldogs in week two.
The Falcons have now won eight straight games over Chaney in the "Battle of the West Side."
"The thing I was most happy with is that we played with a lot of consistency," Head Coach Phil Annarella revealed. "That was our goal for the week, to go out and play with consistency...If we can continue to do that, we might be OK."
Demitrious Davis led the way for Fitch with 97 rushing yards and 79 passing along with two scores.
"It's pretty big since it's our last year playing them," Davis said. "We just wanted to start the season out good this year. They are basically our West Side rivalry, so it's good to finish playing them with a good win," he added.
His twin brother Chris likewise added a rushing touchdown in the opener.
"It was really special that we both did good, so one of us doesn't think we're better than the other," Chris joked.
The Falcons now look ahead to facing another local team in Poland. The Bulldogs held off Hubbard in Week One, 16-7.
"We're fortunate that Poland stepped up to the plate, because there are some other local teams who will not play us, Annarella said. "They're certainly not intimidated in any way of playing a bigger school. I just hope we go over there, and we're ready to play and that we're competitive with them," he added.
