Ralph Blundo’s bunch clinched at least a share of the Class AAA Section 2 crown tonight after the Hurricanes’  87-66 win over visiting Central Valley. New Castle is currently 18-0 and 9-0 in the section. The ‘Canes have defeated the Warriors in each of their last four meetings.

New Castle only led by 3-points after the first frame (20-17) but took advantage of a big second quarter by Shawn Anderson and Malik Hooker, who had 12 and 9 points in the opening half respectively to take a 42-31 lead at the break. Anderson and Hooker finished the game as co-leading scorers with 23 points a piece. Corey Eggleston added 11.

Central Valley (6-4, 11-8) had won their previous three contests and were tied with Beaver for second place prior to tonight’s loss. Tonight, Curtis Lewis scored 23 points for the Warriors. Central will be back in action against Beaver on Friday.

New Castle will travel to Hopewell to take on the Vikings on Friday.
