Dan Moody has a pretty good grip on what it will take to succeed at the next level.

"I'm just gonna have to dive right in," said Moody. "I have to be a committed student athlete as soon as I get there. I realize the workload is going to be hard. It's going to be rigorous, academically."

If anyone is equipped to handle an Ivy League workload, it is Moody. The Howland senior is headed to Harvard. If that's not enough responsibility, Moody will also play football. A three-year starter with the Tigers, Howland went 31-3 in that time. He received All Region honors and was named Academic All State.

"Football is a great thing because it's just one more thing you have to deal with for time management and for commitment. You're part of a team," said Moody, a three-year starter with the Tigers. "It's another great opportunity for me to meet people at Harvard for networking. I'm excited to play because it's something that can keep me on track and keep me focused."

His focus has been razor sharp in high school. He's a two-sport star and class valedictorian. He is National Honor Society treasurer, a member of Academic Challenge, volunteers at his church, and also plays on the scout team for the women's basketball team. He is also a four-year letterwinner with the track and field team.

"I've always prided myself on being a student athlete. My grades are important to me. I really take pride in my school work," said Moody. "That combined with my work on the football field, if I'm going to do something, I'm going to do my best at it. Football and school are two things I'm very committed to."

For his commitment, and his ability to deliver. Howland's Dan Moody is our MyValleySports.com Student Athlete of the Week.
