Mike Ross wants to serve his country.
"West Point gives you the best opportunity to be the best leader you can be as an officer," said Mike Ross. "That's very important to me."
His twin brother, Anthony, shares that dream. Each recently attended West Point Military Academy's summer camp. Anthony even earned the distinction of outstanding leader. Both have applied for early acceptance to the military academy.
"The people you meet, the people that go to the school are lifelong friends," said Anthony. "They are lifelong leaders that will be with you all the time."
Attending West Point is not the only thing these two brothers share. Each is a starter on the football team, and both are ranked first in the class.
"I mean, we're competitive but we both like to see the other succeed," said Mike. "When we both can be at the same spot, it's a pretty good feeling."
"We've always pushed each other to get better and work harder so it's been a great thing," said Anthony. "I've been lucky."
The Ross brothers are standouts on the baseball diamond as well. While they're not identical, their most impressive accomplishment is having never missed a practice.
"Are you going to be the guy who quits?," said Ross. "Or are you going to be the guy who's here giving one-hundred percent?"
The answer to that question for these two is pretty clear.
Anthony is class president. Mike is class vice president. Each belongs to National Honor Society, Key Club, LEOs Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Congratulations to Anthony and Mike Ross, our MyValleySports.com Student Athletes of the Week.
