Allie Anderson is just a senior in high school, but she already knows the career she'll pursue.
"Whenever I see a baby or a little kid, I just light up. A lot of people tell me 'Wow you really like babies?' Yea I really do," says Anderson.
With a 3.7 grade point average, she certainly has the smarts to one day become a nurse in a neo-natal unit.
"I want to help them. If they're not healthy, I want to get them healthy so they can have a healthy life, and just take care of them."
She also has the drive.
"I love competing, and I love challenging myself."
Anderson attends Ursuline High School, but has been competing as a gymnast with Youngstown Gymnastics since she was six years old. She won the state championship while competing at Level 9 last year, and finished second overall at regionals.
"It's all in the mindset. You have to have a positive mind. If you say you can do it, then you can do it."
Beam may be her favorite event, but she excels at all, even placing 6th on the floor at nationals last year.
"I workout how I want to perform. When I go to meet, I perform how I practice."
Anderson is also involved with many school activities. She is Student Council class president, a student ambassador, a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and is a Eucharistic minister.
Congratulations Allie Anderson; our Student Athlete of the Week.
